Willie Young Memorial Scholarship

The NYCRF Willie Young Memorial Scholarship honors Willie Young, the founder and inaugural president of the New York Coalition for Recreational Fishing (NYCRF). Willie was a titan of the recreational community and one of New York’s leading advocates for fishing access and the protection of marine resources.

Assisting others in the conservation and preservation of our marine resources and promoting “good stewards” are the main goals of the scholarship committee. Finalists will be chosen with one award recipient selected each year.

The NYCRF Willie Young Memorial Scholarship are particularly interested in having its scholarship recipients begin and remain in careers in fields related to the conservation and preservation of our marine resources and recreational fishing. If appropriate, applicant essays should provide a sense of the student’s career aspirations, extracurricular activities and plans within these areas.

Please see the requirements of the scholarship as well as the application form below. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Vice President, Ross Squire at: ross@nycrf.org.
